In her book A Young Woman After God's Own Heart Elizabeth George reminds us of the importance of spending time with God. She writes:
"As women after God's own heart we want to grow in Christ. But, just like any kind of plant, we must take care to nurture a healthy, powerful root system. Our heart's desire is...
to flourish...not to fail
to thrive...no to die
to blossom...no to wither
We must willfully and purposefully spend time in God's Word - reading it, cherishing it, and (most of all) following it".
She goes on to say that when we spend time with our Lord we receive. We are nurtured and fed. We receive his strength and He encourages us in His ways. This is what she calls the Great Exchange:

my weariness for His strength,
my weakness for His power,
my darkness for His light,
my problems for His solutions,
my burdens for His freedom,
my frustrations for His peace,
my turmoil for His calm,
my hopes for His promises,
my afflictions for His balm of comfort,
my questions for His answers,
my confusion for His assurance,
my nothingness for His awesomeness,
the temporal for the eternal,
the impossible for the possible!

Dear God,

Thank you for being such an awesome God! Thank you for your greatness, faithfulness and love. Help us each day this week to spend time with You. Help us to develop deeper roots in our faith as we read your Word and spend time in prayer. Please do not allow us to be so busy that we won't have time for you. Help us to honor your Name in our thoughts, words and actions. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Circle of Friends Sleep-Over

 30 girls, 4 adult leaders, 2 teen helpers, an incredible worship leader, 3 wonderful speakers, the best game leader ever, 1 great grocery shopper, 2 excellent cooks, 2 helpers,  a good movie, 3 trays of baked ziti, 2 trays of meatballs, a big salad bowl, the perfect breakfast and the sweetest desserts. Add a couple of unexpected situations (like Sunday mid-day, after all the rooms had been set up for the event the heating system in the new building shuts down and we have to come up with plan B, which we didn’t have it in the first place).  Oh and yeah the three mice, who were not blind, found swimming in body lotion and  hand sanitizer in their cage (thankfully they were discovered and taken care of and now are doing great!). Not forgetting the sad fact that a cell phone was flushed down the toilet accidentally and a purple I-Pod decorated with monkeys went missing (which has yet to be found). Add the most important guest: our awesome Jesus, mix it all together and you have a great time and memories that will last a forever!

Thank you moms and dads for allowing  your daughters to participate. Thanks to each one of you who got involved and gave us your love and support. Thank you girls for coming and making this such a success! Thank you Jesus for blessing in such a special way. We love you!

Valentines Day Meeting  from 3:00 to 5:00PM

(Please let us know if you are coming. We will be doing an art project with Mrs. Camillone and she needs to know how many girls will be attending. We don’t want to run out of supplies!)

 

Dance Presentation:

Come worship God and watch our girls’ dance presentation of “Beautiful Name” by Zoe Girl during Presence. The service starts @ 6:00PM. Hope to see you all!

Circle of Friends Choir. We will be rehearsing with Lisa Lynne Mathis starting February, 28^th. We want to hear from you. Think of two or three songs you would like to sing and e-mail your choices to circleofriends1717@yahhoo.com. We’ll choose the most popular songs and sing them during our Presence service.

Dear Friends,

 

It is with deep regret that I have to cancel our meeting for tomorrow. I am not feeling well this week and my doctor asked me to take a couple of days to rest. I am cancelling the Project Runway for now, however I am keeping the dance rehearsal for tomorrow, from 5:00 to 6:00PM. The following girls should come to the youth room for rehearsal tomorrow:

Emma and Sarah,  Hannah and Audrey,  Jessica, Isabella, Emme and Lena, and  Lauren.

I am waiting on everyone's response about our Valentines Day Meeting. Please let me know if February 7th is good for you.

Hello everyone!

 

Our first Sleep Over was such a success! We will forever remember such blessed and fun moments. We praise God for such wonderful times and thank you all for being there. 

 

                       Lost and Found

                                

We need everyone to help us find a couple of items that are missing, so let's get to work:

 

Kristin Deever's I-Pod - Kristin could not find her I-Pod this morning. It is purple and has monkeys on it.

Honoka is looking for her prayer journal and a small flowered pocket book with an American Girl hair brush inside. 

We are also very sad about Chelsey's cell phone which we won't be able to retrieve it.

So, next time please remember not to bring items that are so special or expensive to replace.

 

Reminders: Saturday, January 24Th

Project Runway is this Saturday. You will be working in groups to design, execute and model outfits. Get your creative juices flowing!

Since we need a little more time for this project we will start @ 3:00 and end @ 5:30.

Let us know if you coming by Thursday, January 22nd so we can organize the groups accordingly.

 

Attention girls in the dance presentation:

A dance rehearsal will follow immediately from 5:30 to 6:00.

 

Our Valentines meeting was previously scheduled for Saturday, February 14Th. It seems that some of you will be away on vacation. Let me know if February 7Th works better. We will try to change it.

 

We now have Circle of Friends shirts (child and adult sizes) and tote bags for sale. Check them out this coming Saturday.

If you have not signed a permission to post pictures of your child on our blog please do it

this Saturday. We are trying to get that up and going.

 

Dear Parents: We've noticed that most of the girls seem to be "out of the loop" about our plans for each meeting. Showing them our e-mails will help them better prepare for each project.
